Islamabad — Journalist Riaz Khan Daudzai has been appointed as a new information commissioner for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information commission, according to a notification issued by the provincial information and public relations department.
Mr. Daudzai, who worked for The News International and has actively used the provincial Right to Information (RTI) law in his work, has been appointed for a three-year term with immediate effect.
He also won the 2018 RTI Champions Award in the best journalist category. The annual awards are presented by the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives on behalf of the Coalition on RTI.
Mr. Daudzai will fill the post left vacant by the departure of Iftekhar Hussain Khan, who completed his three-year tenure in June 2018. The veteran journalist will join information commissioner Mah Talat and chief information commissioner Azmat Hanif Orakzai, whose three-year tenure is also about to end soon.
